Description
Join the talented cast and crew of the Island Breeze Luau for an evening under the stars as they pay tribute to their royal Hawaiian past.
The Island Breeze Luau is held on the lawn of the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Resort. The luau is located on the former grounds of Ahu’ena, King Kamehameha the Great’s estate, and is within walking distance of other local historic sites such as Hulihe’e Palace and the Mokuaikaua Church. Island Breeze Luau honors this link to the past by incorporating more Hawaiian history into their performances and presentations than you will find at other luaus.
The luau grounds are not only culturally and historically important, but they also provide stunning views of Kamakahonu Bay, Mount Hualalai, and the lights of Kona. It’s no wonder why the Island Breeze Luau has been named the “Best of West Hawaii” since 2000.
Pre-dinner Cultural Activities: After a warm welcome, enjoy the live Hawaiian music and a tropical drink from the open bar while you check-out all the fun and games available on the luau grounds. There’s a group hula lesson, games, temporary Polynesian tattoos, and even an up-close fire-knife demonstration using a toy version of the ire-knife. You can take a closer look at the onsite imu, the traditional Hawaiian in-ground oven, or just relax and enjoy the view, it’s up to you!
The evening takes a dramatic turn when King Kamehameha’s I and his royal court make their grand entrance by water. The royal court is greeted by a conch shell herald, Hawaiian chants, and the lighting of tiki torches as they make their way to the stage. Given the historical significance of the luau grounds, the royal procession is a unique moment. and may be the Island Breeze Luau’s standout feature. Dinner service begins following the procession.

There is a full-service bar onsite which serves all your favorite tropical drinks, as well as a limited selection of beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Evening Performance: He ‘Ohana Kakou (“We are Family”), is a Polynesian revue which showcases the music, dance, and cultures of Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, and a thrilling Samoan fire-knife dancing performance to draw the evening to a close. Enjoy an evening under the stars, while this talented cast of dancers and musicians takes you on a tour of the Polynesian islands.
